The Nike Vomero 18 is a cushioned daily trainer designed to be versatile and durable. The newest version features a lower price, increased stack height and dual-foam midsole with a layer of ZoomX foam on top of the dense ReactX foam found in the Pegasus 41. Don't let the "ZoomX" stamped on the side fool you—the Vomero 18 is not an exciting shoe, and it rides nothing like the race shoes that use a foam of the same name. It's not fast or bouncy, but it is smooth and reliable. The Vomero 18 is a boring shoe, but in all the right ways. It's comfortable, supportive and gets out of the way to let the runner do the work. It's nowhere near as bouncy and fun as the Puma MagMax, but it's also priced $30 cheaper. If you want soft and bouncy from Nike, you can still get the Invincible 3 (often on sale for under $120 these days) or hold out for the upcoming Vomero Plus, the true Invincible replacement.
