On Cloudboom Echo 3

The On Cloudboom Echo 3 is On’s flagship marathon racer, debuting in 2023. It features their signature CloudTec® midsole design, a full-length carbon fiber plate, and Helion™ HF—a PEBA-based foam that delivers a slightly firmer, more responsive feel than some of its ultra-plush competitors. Weighing in at 215 grams (Men’s US 9), the Echo 3 sits comfortably in the middle of the racing shoe weight spectrum. The upper features a no-frills, performance-oriented design—lightweight, breathable, and built with premium materials that don’t sacrifice comfort for minimalism. The midsole is where the shoe shines. The PEBA compound feels firmer to the touch but comes alive under load: the harder you push, the more it gives back. It delivers noticeable rebound and excellent impact absorption - comparable to the Cloudboom Zone, but better tuned for longer efforts. Unlike some of today’s squishier race-day foams, the Echo 3 offers surprising stability at slower paces while still maintaining a quick, efficient ride when the pace picks up. It strikes a rare balance—fast, without feeling punishing. Originally priced at $290, the Echo 3 was among the most expensive super shoes on the market. But now that it’s often available for under $200, it’s become a compelling value in the carbon-plated racing scene.
