The Brooks Glycerin 21, with its DNA Loft v3 foam, was a favorite among bigger runners looking for a slightly firmer, more stable ride—adjectives we’ve used to describe the Glycerin 21 on the channel include sturdy, robust, reliable, and workhorse. With the Glycerin 22, Brooks updated the midsole to DNA Tuned—a supercritical blend with “cells” of varying sizes. Unfortunately, the revised DNA Tuned midsole doesn't capture the ride quality we came to love in the Glycerin Max. Upon initial testing, it feels like Brooks updated this legacy model for the sake of change, without bringing anything new or exciting to the table—a true "nothing-burger" of a shoe. If you're considering buying the Glycerin 22 ($165), we’d recommend checking out the Glycerin 21 or Nimbus 26 on discount—or the new Hoka Bondi 9 ($165).
