The Adidas Boston 13 is a blue-collar, workman-like marathon training companion. Like previous versions, its midsole features a top layer of Lightstrike Pro—similar to what’s found in the Adios Pro 3 and EVO SL—and a bottom layer of Lightstrike 2.0 for added stability. This dual-layer midsole construction is also seen in the popular Hoka Mach X2 and Saucony Endorphin Trainer; but unlike those beasts, the Boston 13 comes with a lower stack, less bounce, and less prominent rocker geometry. Compared to its predecessor, the Boston 13 also features a much better-fitting upper, more padding in the heel and tongue, and a slightly softer-tuned Lightstrike 2.0 foam that helps cut down on the 30-50 mile break-in period. These updates make Adidas’ flagship tempo/daily trainer more accessible to a wider range of runners and paces, cementing it as a dependable choice in any no-nonsense shoe rotation.
